針對緬甸反對派領袖翁山蘇姬訪問中國大陸，大陸「中國國際問題研究所」副所長阮宗澤指出，自己曾在大陸與翁山蘇姬本人交談，他認為翁山蘇姬對訪問中國感到相當有興趣，同時對中國的時政動態也十分了解。他說，伴隨緬甸改革進入冷靜沉澱期，此時正是翁山蘇姬訪問中國的好時機。
鳳凰網11日報導，緬甸反對黨「全國民主聯盟」領袖翁山蘇姬此行訪問中國，引發相當關注。阮宗澤認為，中緬兩國未來相互依存度將提高，中國也可透過這次訪問，學會和一個多元化、開放的緬甸打交道。
報導指出，2010年緬甸實行民主化後，國內政治生態發生變化。學者認為在中緬交往中，雙方都有需要適應調整的過程；中緬是鄰國，有漫長的邊境線，從地緣政治考慮，雙方都有意願處理好關係。
廣州暨南大學東南亞研究所教授林錫星表示，翁山蘇姬此行將使她在國內地位有所提升，雖說未必能到選總統的程度（指推動修憲，改變既有規定），但未來將有可能出任國會議長。他認為，翁山蘇姬對中國相當友善，像過去中資公司在當地投資銅礦遇到抗議時，她就曾站出來做正面建議。
